Coastal Fisheries Management in Costa Rica and Panama
The UBC project worked in partnership with the University of La Rochelle in France, the University of Costa Rica, and the University of Panama (UNACHI) to organize a transboundary workshop on local coastal management. The workshop was sponsored by UBC, the Universities, and the Canadian Embassy of Costa Rica and attended by local artisinal fishers, NGOs, academics, GEF project managers, government representatives and community members. This workshop was held in February 2011. In March 2012, the local fishers will hold their own self-organized workshop to further their goals of local management of their coastal resources.
