Project Management

The project is funded by the GEF, implemented by the UNDP (under the International Waters focal area), and executed by the Institute of Asian Research, at the University of British Columbia.

The core project management team (PMT) is comprised of Richard Paisley, Project Director; Susan Bazilli, Project Manager, from the University of British Columbia; and Glen Hearns and Cuauhtemoc Leon, lead consultants. Many other local and international consultants work on the project on specific issues as their expertise requires.

The project has a steering committee (SC) of key personnel from GEF implementing and executing bodies, including UNDP, UNEP and WB members, as well as respected experts from the FAO, and DFAIT of Canada. The SC meets every 12 months to oversee the project.

The project has an Advisory Panel (AP) of specialists in legal and institutional aspects of shared waters management and provides guidance on substantive project issues and work. The Chair of the AP is also be a member of the SC to ensure communication between the two bodies.
